Be prepared for August and enjoy an afternoon with your fellow actors by attending a workshop. Below are the Workshops and Classes offered for February and March. Please contact the appropriate Guild Leader for information and to RSVP. February 21-23: RingCon: Come and step into Middle Earth, right in the
middle of Gig Harbor. The 2nd Annual RingCon celebrates the
spirit of Fantasy. With the popularity of the Tolkein movies, Fantasy has
come alive once again in our society. Join vendors, performers, artists
and experts alike and help support this event, produced by Ron and Teresa
Cleveland. For details, visit The Washington
Renaissance Fantasy Faire Web Site, or e-mail Ron Cleveland at:
bryonm@washingtonrenfare.com.
Gig Harbor. Saturday, March 8th
– 2:00 PM: For those of you out there that know you have a
Guild Leader, but wouldn’t know them if you sat right upon them? This is
the meeting for you. We are hosting a “Getting to Know You” meeting,
right after our Performing Arts Department meeting. This way, people have
the chance to get to know their Guild Leaders, and one another. Potluck

for directions, RSVP and other information. Port Orchard. Saturday, March 22nd
– 12:00 PM: Basics Workshop Everyone has to take this one, might as well get it
done right away! Join us to learn the very basics of being a Rennie.
Initial character creation, basic costuming ideas, social history and
period culture...this class is designated to get our new Volunteer Actors
comfortable with the Renaissance. If you have not taken this class last
season, you must take it this season. Potluck event, contact SophieFaire@aol.com
for details, RSVP and directions. Please bring notebook and pen, a folder
for worksheets is optional. Everett. If there is interest in adding an Advanced History/Advanced Language class to our first Basics Workshop, please contact AmyFaire@aol.com. When possible, we will tack on an extra class to our Basics Workshops such as Meet and Greet and Improv Workshop. Later in the season, we will offer Singing, Dancing and other classes. If you have class requests, please contact melfaire@nwinet.com. These workshops are free, although in some cases there may be small fees involved if work-books or tapes are necessary. Check-In
Protocol We strongly recommend, urge and even beg our Volunteer Actors to please check in on Thursday or Friday afternoon/early evening. If you can’t be there until Saturday morning, we understand, but even non-campers can stop by and check in, which makes life much easier for everyone. When you check in, you need to bring legally acceptable, current ID. We will accept state and/or military ID, valid driver’s licenses and passports. We will not accept ID that does not have a picture on it, or ID from your place of employment. In the case of minors who do not have state or military ID, or a driver’s license, we will accept current school ID to prove identity. We will not take Social Security cards, birth certificates, marriage certificates, or anything else that does not also include a picture. If you have not signed a Hold Harmless agreement, you will need to do so then. Please do not bring along extra minors unless you’re also bringing along paperwork indicating that you are serving as their Guardian, signed by their parents. Please visit the Hold Harmless agreement right here on our site. When you check in, we will record your vehicle license number, give you your ID Card, Volunteer Actor Favor and your packet. Your ID card needs to be with you –always- while you are on the Faire site. Lost cards can be replaced for a $5.00 fee at the Participant’s Gate. Your Volunteer Actor Favor needs to be worn to indicate that you are Volunteer Actors. This is a good way for other departments to be able to distinguish you from costumed patrons, paid acts or vendors. Your packet will include your car marker, maps of the Faire site, encampment locations, schedules, parking information, camping information, your camping pass, a copy of the Faire’s program, and any other pertinent information our actors need. Please research the material in your packet before you request that anyone come and find your Guild Leader. We understand that people can feel a bit confused and nervous when they first arrive, and we’d love to be able to assist everyone personally, but Check-In time is chaotic, and we need to be able to process everyone quickly, and everything organized. So, please look everything over...chances are that whatever you were concerned about is going to be covered right in the packet. Your car marker can be place on the dashboard of your car to indicate to the Car Gate workers that you belong on site. Since they won’t need to stop the car, it saves everyone time and energy. So, if one follows the listed protocol below, everyone should end up very well taken care of. 1. Fill out Actor’s
Application, audition and become accepted into a Guild. 2. Send in signed Hold
Harmless agreement, and any necessary Minor oriented
paperwork. 3. Send in either a check or money
order for $20, along with a note with my legal name, Guild and
telephone number to this address: WRFF P.A.D., PO Box 8655, Port
Orchard, WA, 98366-0899. 4. Attend one Basics Workshop, and
at least one official Guild meeting. 5. Check-In at the Participant’s
Gate on the Faire Site, preferably Thursday or Friday and receive packet
and materials. 6. Have fun!! Never forget that enjoyment is the point of the Faire. |
