Guilds
Below are the Guilds that one can choose from as a Volunteer Actor at our Faire. Please be aware that there is an audition process for almost every Guild, and each Guild has separate costume requirements; please contact the appropriate Guild Leader for more information.
Nobility The Nobility, otherwise known as the Guild of St. Ninian, is directed by Mark Demry. All open slots are by audition only, we do have a list of specific characters we are looking to cast. Clergy shall also be grouped with the Nobility this year, contact Richard Kirton for more information.
Middle Class Come and make merry with the merchants, city officials and crafters of Holy Glen Shire! All slots are audition only. Guildmistress: Pam Duncan.
Peasant Guild This year, the Peasant Guild, also known as the Hearth of St. Brigid, will include any character below Middle Class rank, as well as all Washerwomen. This Guild also encompasses our delightful Pleasant Pastymes group, the perfect place for quiet family fun. Tavern Wenches You must be over 21 to apply for this Guild. Come and join the most wicked wenches of the shire as they sling ales, sing and indulge in all manner of ribaldry. (Men can apply, too!) All slots are audition only. Guildmistress: Lynn dal Santo.
Faeries and Fantasy This Guild is appropriate for anyone interested in portraying a Fantasy based character. Be a part of the supernatural beauty of the Fantasy world! All slots are audition only, and costume requirements may vary. Guildmistress: Chelsea Clayton. Co-Guildmistress: Aurea Shiri. Assistant Guildmistress: Kristin Warnock.
The Rom Anyone playing a Gypsy character will fit right into this Guild. Please be aware that costumes for this Guild must be within the Guidelines set by the Guildmistress. This is a historically accurate Guild, "bare bellied" outfits are not accepted. All slots are audition only. Guildmasters: Stuart Dempster, Wesley Gomes.
The Mercenaries For all the men out there with a sword for hire, this is the Guild for you! All slots are audition only. Guildmaster: Darren Wallace
The Privateers The Brotherhood of Oceanic Mercenaries (B.O.O.M.) is always seeking new recruits! If sacking foreign ships and sailing to the Barbary Coast is right up your alley, this is the place to go. Join the crew of The Rose in their daring land-based exploits. All slots are audition only. Guildmaster: Steven Black, Guildmistress: Amy Forsyth.
The Queen’s Guard For those who value God, Country and Queen, this is the Guild for you. Here is your chance to portray Queen Mary’s personal guards, all slots are audition only. Guildmaster: Scott Perkins.
Shakespeare on the Green Anyone interested in the stage aspect of the Faire will feel right at home with our newest Guild! Scenes from the Bard’s best works shall be performed out on the Green, for all the patrons to enjoy. This is a rehearsal intensive Guild, all slots and roles are audition only. Guildmaster: David Cravens.
Guilds may offer special classes or meetings, and may also require specific costuming. Please do not apply into a Guild you cannot provide an acceptable costume and persona for.
